Matching Gifts

What is employer matching?

Many employers will match whatever donation you make to charities like The Neighborhood School PTA.  For example: you make a donation for $250, and then your employer donates another $250.  Some will even multiply your match by 2, 3, or even 4 times.  And others will pay a cash amount for each hour of your time that you volunteer.

What’s the catch?

There is no catch!  This is a great opportunity for employers to give money to causes that their employees believe in.  It doesn’t come out of your pay or affect you as an employee in any way, apart from the satisfaction you get at how much further your gift has stretched.  Unfortunately, 78% of match-eligible donors have no idea whether their company offers a matching gift program.  And only 7% of donors at companies with matching gift programs actually submit a matching gift request.  The money is just waiting there to be donated to charities like the TNS PTA.

How do I get the match?

Once you have made your donation to the TNS PTA, ask your Human Resources department whether your company/organization has a matching gift program.  Each program is different, so you will then have to follow their instructions. Usually, it’s about filling out a form on paper or online.  Some of the key information you are likely to need is below, but if you have any trouble at all filling out the form, please do not hesitate to contact us at PTAevents@tnsny.org.  We will be happy to get you the information you need.

  • Charity Name: Parent-Teacher Association of The Neighborhood School Inc.

  • Charity Address: 121 E 3rd St, New York, NY, 10009

  • Charity Type: education

  • Charity Tax ID: 13-4033837

  • Note: Gifts made through our GoFundMe page actually first go to the PayPalGiving Fund, who in turn donates them to the TNS PTA.  Your receipt reflects this where it specifies the benefiting charity as “PTA of the Neighborhood School”
