Cyber Monday / Giving Tuesday

Giving Tuesday

Thanksgiving and Black Friday are already just a blurry tryptophan memory, and Cyber Monday is one click away. While you’re thinking about gift giving, remember the following ways to shop to support TNS:

Cyber Monday - THREE WAYS TO SHOP for TNS:

1) MightyNest

2) Emily Press Labels

3) AmazonSmile

1) MightyNest - MightyNest donates up to 15% of every purchase to schools. Check out their healthy, safe products for the home.

2) Emily Press Labels - Emily Press Labels donates 20% of sales when you or your friends and family shop through our special shopping link. Support our fundraiser, help keep belongings out of the Lost & Found, and hang-on to your kid’s stuff!  (we’re also working on a Mabel Labels fundraiser--stay tuned!)

3) AmazonSmile - Amazon will donate a percentage (.05) to TNS every time you shop through the Amazon Smile site.

Sign-up so all your purchases count towards a donation to the school. First, designated “Parent Teacher Association Of The Neighborhood School Inc” as your charity of choice and be sure to use every time you shop.

Let’s also remember the most important day... the one that embodies the true spirit of this time of year: Giving Tuesday. This is a global celebration of philanthropy on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. Please consider including TNS in your holiday giving this year. The PTA’s suggested donation is $550 per student, but we will gladly accept whatever amount your family is able to give. Not only will your donation support your child’s education and sustain vital school programming but also all donations are 100% tax deductible.

1) Cash/Check - Make checks payable to “The Neighborhood School PTA.” Deliver to the office or mail to 121 East 3rd Street, NY, NY 10009

2) Paypal Visit and click on the button to create a recurring donation or one-time contribution. You may also donate directly from thePayPal site using the handle

3)Fee-Free Transfer of funds - Look for a PTA volunteer in the lobby on Wednesday or email We will then email an invoicethat allows you to make a Fee-Free Transfer directly from your checking/savings account.

4) Friends and Family Donations - Please ask relatives to support our school. As always, all donations are fully tax deductible, even for non-TNS parents.

5) Corporate Match - Many businesses match their employees’ charitable contributions. The PTA’s Co-Treasurers can assist in providing you with the information you need for a corporate match.

Museum of Impact

Our school will be working with the Museum of Impact to stage a unique social action exhibit celebrating upStanders in our community! Together we can raise our voices to combat hate speech, to support LGBTQ and Black Lives Matter, to make a significant impact on issues affecting every single one of us.

Action: Who are your upstanders - people who have inspired you to affect change? Post in the comments below and we will send in your suggestions to have the Museum of Impact create visual representation of our collective heroes.

Holiday Fair call

Hello TNS families,

In one month we have our annual Holiday Fair at The Neighborhood School which will be held on Sunday December 10th from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

We need a lot of volunteers to help out with this widely known holiday school event that raises money for our children’s extra classes, wonderful additional teachers, and many needed fundings that keep the wheels rolling.

This Wednesday, November 15th will be the first Committee meeting - right after drop off.

Please meet me in the PTA room...
If you can not make it - please email me or call me in the hallways and let me know you are available to help.

*There will be discussion of the tables, food, decorations and any other ideas and suggestions that can help the Holiday Fair be amazing!

**There is a Box Maze Committee that started in October - they need anyone who is near school at any given time to go by the appliance stores and bring refrigerator, dishwasher,  washer / dryer boxes any really BIG boxes to the school daily... for the biggest fun draw our children enjoy -- set up on December 9th. if you can help (drop the boxes off in the PTA room at ANYTIME).

***Remember the only way things can get done is by group effort and we as parents have to stick together and have teamwork in high gear to accomplish The Impossible!

Best wishes as always,
~Lorraine Hutra
