Week of April 24, 2017

Dear Neighborhood School Families,

We are delighted that our children are eager to start school each day.  Please remember that students and families must remain downstairs until 8:23 a.m.  Thank you.

What does it mean to be an activist?  What does activism and social justice look like at TNS?  This past weekend, TNS staff visited The Museum of the City of New York’s “Activist New York” exhibit and The International Center of Photography; both experiences gave us a lot to think about.  I highly encourage you to visit these museums if you have a chance.  Speaking of activism, I hope you will join us on Wednesday from 12 - 4 p.m. in the 4th Street Courtyard for Earth Day.

It’s a busy week at TNS:

  • The Garden Committee meets Monday at drop-off in the small cafeteria.

  • SLT (School Leadership Team) will meet on Tuesday at 8 a.m. in room 301.  This meeting is open to all.

  • We have rescheduled our Town Hall Meeting for Tuesday afternoon from 4 - 4:30 p.m. in the auditorium.   Representatives from the School Construction Authority and Department of Facilities will be there to address questions about lead results in water, construction and safety drills.

  • SING is Wednesday at 8:45am in the auditorium.  We will have a bake sale in the lobby beforehand.

  • TNS and Star are celebrating Earth Day on Wednesday in the 4th Street Courtyard from 12 - 4 p.m.  This is an opportunity for all of us to deepen to our commitment to the environment-please come by!  If it’s raining, we will be in the auditorium.

  • Please join me, TNS families and staff Thursday from 6 - 10 p.m. for the Spring Auction at the Manny Cantor Center (197 East Broadway).  There are many wonderful items up for bids – restaurants, fashion items, classes, camps, fitness– you name it!  And don’t forget to register for free childcare.  Even if you can’t make the Spring Auction Event, you can still get some great deals (and support TNS) at the on-line auction. Check it out: http://tnsny.org/auction.

Thanks for all the info Dyanthe!
Where is the link to register for childcare? Nothing displays on my phone when I link to the NYCharities.org Silent Auction page.
Is this an iPhone/ browser problem? Thanks!
