Week of 4.25.22

Dear Families,

This year, due to pandemic COVID relief funds, we have been able to pay for partnerships with several community-based organizations to support our entire community’s mental health and well-being, including families.  These incredible opportunities are just for TNS! We have two workshops this week that I hope our families will attend.  First, the Education Justice Research & Organizing Collaborative (EJ-ROC) Center for Community Organizing and Engagement will offer the third in their Anti-Racist Parent training series: “The Air We Breath,” Tuesday, from 6 - 8 PM.  In this session, parents will spend a short time in racial affinity spaces but then come together to explore racial and other (micro) aggressions for most of the workshop.  Here is the zoom link for the meeting: https://nyu.zoom.us/j/3957174475.  Please register at this link if you haven’t yet.

We are also partnering with University Settlement to offer a four-part parenting training series, starting this Thursday from 6 - 7 PM. Positive Parent Training (Triple P) is an evidence-based model proven to reduce family stress and behavioral challenges at home.  Many families have benefited from these sessions, which offer tools for supporting our kids and strengthening family relationships. Neaha [Triple P] really helped us talk through and strategize about some stuck spots in our family dynamics and routines and make small changes that have made a big impact! I’m so glad we were able to make the time and space for this; we needed the support and also more information about child development and their social-emotional needs.

Please remember that there is no school on Monday, May 2, observing Eid al-Fitr.
