Week of 5.3.22

Dear Families,

The weather is turning warm, and we are heading into the last two months of the school year.  The end of the school year can elicit complicated feelings in children. What looks like spring fever may be children who are beginning to feel the loss of their classroom community, and it’s important to remind ourselves that regression is a normal reaction for children in the face of change.  Children react to transitions and the end of the year is a big one. Thinking about ending the year, saying “Goodbye,” and considering beginning a new grade with new teachers and new peer groups can bring up a lot of anxiety for children.  Teachers will use various ways to address end-of-year issues in the classroom.  We ask that you also support your children by keeping schedules and routines as regular for as long as possible and keeping your anxieties about the summer and next school year at bay.  Please check in with your child’s teacher if you notice your child is struggling during this time.

Families can still join the Triple P (Positive Parent Training) workshop series this Thursday from 6 - 7 PM. Positive Parent Training (Triple P) is an evidence-based model proven to reduce family stress and behavioral challenges at home. Join here: https://bit.ly/tns-ppp.

Have a good week.

Warm regards,
