Dyanthe’s Weekly Letter

Dear Families,

A parent recently reached out to me with concerns about teachers leaving.  We indeed have several teachers moving on for various reasons: Oli is going to become a librarian, Joanne is retiring to be with her family, Caroline moved to Colorado in April, Amann is leaving to pursue other opportunities, and Jane is taking a break from teaching. The hiring committee has been interviewing candidates over the last month, and we have some wonderful prospects.  I will update you as we move forward with planning for next year.

As many of you know, we have not had a permanent school nurse this year.  Instead, agency nurses have been contracted to work at our school. As a result, there have been a lot of turnovers, and many days a sub nurse shows up after 9 a.m. without the school staff being made aware of the absence. Not only is this situation incredibly unsafe for all students, but it is a matter of equity, as some of our students depend on a nurse to be in school.  Our SLT will share a list of contacts and letter templates later this week so that you can reach out to our superintendent and city officials about the situation and ensure we have a dedicated nurse next year.

Batter up!  It’s baseball season at TNS!  Check out Oli’s recent blog entry.

Warmly,

Dyanthe
