Dyanthe and Shaquawn’s Weekly Letter

Dear Families,

Our first few days were bustling with excitement, some separation tears, new friendships, and introductions to new routines. One way that we begin the year is with a practice called Guided Discovery. This Responsive Classroom strategy introduces classroom materials engagingly by asking children to think about the many ways to use and care for them. Take a look at what our classrooms have introduced around the building.

We were happy to meet some of our newer families at the meet and greet on Friday. Hopefully, many more of you will be able to connect to continue fostering relationships that will keep our community growing and thriving.

Farewell, Cheryl! After many wonderful years of nurturing a love for reading in our children and curating a library brimming with inspiring and engaging books, Cheryl is set to embark on a well-deserved retirement from TNS. Her final day as our librarian will be Thursday, September 12th. Though she will be stepping away from her role, she will continue to lend her support to Paula during the transition.

Please join us in sending Cheryl your warmest wishes and heartfelt thanks as she begins this exciting new chapter.

Intakes: If you haven’t already had your Intake Meetings with your child’s new teacher, please make sure to sign up for one. These are opportunities for you to come together to talk about your child, their passions and interests, and your hopes and dreams for the year.

Curriculum Night: Curriculum Night will be held on Thursday, September 19th from 6:00-7:30pm. You will receive Zoom links from your child’s teacher/teachers soon.

Dismissal Protocol: During dismissal, we ask that you go to your child’s class spot to avoid confusion and so teachers can see when children are picked up. If you stand by the stairs, we will ask you to walk to your class spot.

OMNY Cards: There has been a system wide problem with issuing OMNY cards to families. We are doing a “work around” and will send them home tomorrow.  Thanks for your patience!

Warmly,

Dyanthe and Shaquawn
