District 1 BATTLE of the Family Bands!

and get ready for a night to remember!

Dear D1 Parent Coordinators, Families, Parent Associations and PTA’s!

We are excited to announce the return of the District 1 BATTLE of the Family Bands this year, and the great Bowery Ballroom has given us a date – Sunday,  May  5.

The basic rules and concept:

  • Each band will prepare a 15-minute set of music in any genre.
  • Band members must be current parents or staff members of the school.

Judges will decide the winning school who takes home the beautiful trophy!

Please be sure to let us know if your school has a band or plans to put a band together to battle it out on Sunday, May 5!!  We hope you will all consider participating.

This is a community event and whether your school has a band or not – everyone is welcome to attend this epic event! Come out to celebrate the public schools in our district!

Most Importantly,

Let us know if you have a participating band!

Event details, RSVP and Ticket Sales forthcoming…

PIVOTal Parent Workshop Series

One of the things that we do our best to be true to, is to listen to parents and caregivers, when they tell us what they need and want. Based on the feedback from our October workshops, parents shared that they wanted to know more about the resources they heard us mention on the first two workshop calls: Youth Leadership Councils, legal support, student athlete support, mentorship. They were particularly interested in these resources at no cost. We listened.

On Tuesday, November 21, 2023, we are hosting our 3rd workshop in our PIVOTal Parents Workshop Series, where we will introduce parents, caregivers and PCs to the Project PIVOT team members who lead the various supplemental supports that we have available. Following that one of our partners will share additional free, funded resources that families can take advantage of.

There will be interpreters available in Spanish, French and Haitian-Creole.
