Notes in Motion Dance Theatre

Pre-K -1st grade

Cost: Fee based & Scholarships

Site: The Neighborhood School

Dates: M-F        Time: 2:45pm- 5:30pm

Our students learn dance skills, choreography, improvisation, interdisciplinary study, and arts education. Our teaching artists use the Movement Exchange Method, in which students take on leadership roles in their own learning, have creative input in the design of the curriculum, participate in critical discussions of the work of their peers, and develop collaborative skills. The program fosters self-discovery, risk-taking, and making connections between different topics, themes, and areas of learning. We aim to provide access to the art form of dance to inspire the next generation of dance appreciators.

The Honeysuckle Society

Pre-K-5th grade

Cost: Fee Based/Sliding Scale Site: TNS Garden

Dates: Monday-Friday Time: 2:45pm-5pm On Site

The Honeysuckle Society is an after school program for our city kids to relax and connect with nature through gardening and crafts. With two courtyards, over 40 planters, and 10 tree wells on school property we have lots of space for the children to explore and learn. Each season the children will focus on an element with related monthly activities. In fall we will focus on earth, and talk about dirt, trees, bugs, animals and ecosystems. In the winter we will focus on air and explore weather, stars, moon and birds. In the spring we will focus on water and learn about clouds, plants and of course..water! Spending time outdoors and doing handwork promotes healthy immune systems, emotional regulation, hand-eye coordination, pattern recognition, and mindfulness. A goal of the program is to help children relate to the earth and how we use it, where our food comes from, and how to take care of it.
