Dyanthe’s Weekly Letter

Dear Families,

Family conferences are this Thursday evening and Friday afternoon!  Please remember that dismissal is at 11:45 a.m. on Friday.  Please make sure you sign-up for a conference time.  I encourage you to sign up for a conference with Oli, Maria, and Julia to hear about your child’s experience in P.E., Science, and Spanish.

At SLT (School Leadership Team) yesterday, we discussed how we support kids to follow class and school rules (we call them Agreements), work and play together, and resolve conflicts productively. Our teachers take a lot of time at the start of the year to build community and set up classroom expectations and routines.  In our ⅔ classes, our guidance counselor, Tina, pushes into the classroom each week to co-teach social-emotional lessons that help students develop skills to deal with the day-to-day.  Some of our 4⁄5 classrooms also hold Restorative Circles so that children can talk about problems that occur.  Depending on the situation, some restorative circles are brought to the larger community (whole class), while others might be dealt with in a small group.  These are just some of the ways that we support children at school.  If you have any questions or concerns regarding your child, please reach out to your classroom teachers or me.

Several parents on our Communication Committee are working hard to share the wonderful things happening at our school.  Please follow our PTA on Instagram: neighborhoodgram.

Warmly,

Dyanthe
